Benefits of Email Marketing

Experts agree that email marketing is still a very relevant digital marketing tool in 2022, with many benefits to a business or organization of any size.  It is a way to share valuable content, promotions and news with your community in a more personal way.

Here are 5 benefits to adding in email marketing to your strategy:

Communicating with your Audience

Using email marketing as a communication tool is a huge benefit for your business.  Keeping your audience informed of events, new products or services, community sponsorships, birthday celebrations, and any other "goings on" will help you stay top of mind.  Remember that your audience may be made up of various segments, such as your current customers, past customers, staff or team members, community members, leads or prospects and possibly even friends and family.  Being able to update them with all of your news is a great way to tell your stories, share your wins and make them feel PART of your business.

Generating Traffic to your Website

Anytime I send out an email (which is weekly) my website traffic always goes up in Analytics.  Including links to articles and content on your website from your email is a great way to generate more traffic to your website.  Some examples of content you might include in your email to do this include:

  • Link to recent blog post
  • Link to featured product or service
  • Link to sales / promotional offer

Providing Value to your Audience

When you are providing value to your audience, you will be building and nurturing the relationships you have with your subscribers.  They will be encouraged to remain a subscriber, and tell their friends.  Think of things that you enjoy receiving in your email box.  Valuable tips, articles that are relevant and helpful, promotions that save you money.  Be helpful, offer solutions, educate them, and make them laugh.  These are all ways to improve that value you are offering.

Owning your Own List

This might be my favourite benefit of email marketing that I often stress when talking about the digital assets of your business.  Your website and your email list are the two digital assets that your business truly OWNS.  Growing your own organic email databases is an incredibly valuable asset.  Investing in email marketing, and growing your email audience is going to have a very high ROI for your business.

Generating Sales

And finally, by using email marketing your business will certainly experience an increase in sales.  By informing your email audience of your products, services, promotions, and even VIP offers - they are going to be more inclined to purchase.

According to Hubspot "59% of marketers say email is their biggest source of ROI and marketers who used segmented campaigns note as much as a 760% increase in revenue"

Your email marketing efforts can be custom tailored with message that encourage a purchase to an audience that has already passed the "Know/Like/Trust/" part of relationship building, and therefore the likelihood they will make that purchased has increased exponentially.
