Common acronyms in Digital Marketing include:
KPI – Key Performance Indicator
SEO – Search Engine Optimization
SMM – Social Media Marketing
PPC – Pay Per Click (advertising)
B2B – Business to Business
B2C – Business to Consumer
PR = Public Relations
WHAT IS SME?
I came across a business this week that was using the acronym “SME” in all of their online communication. Their website, their social media everything said “SME” and I have to honestly admit I wasn’t sure what that was. So when I googled it there were even a few different results – one was “Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration” which I was pretty sure was NOT what this business was trying to convey. So did you know that SME is often the acronym used to refer to small and medium enterprise? I actually did not know this (SMH) = Smack My Head!! Probably should have since that is my main target audience. *NEVER STOP LEARNING!*
So my tip today is IF your business is using a shortened form of any phrase – even as obvious at it may seem to you – expand on that to the full form in your advertising / website / etc. just in case someone coming across your business does not know what that means.
