Business Tip: Plan your Marketing in Advance
What a strange question given the fact the first day of summer was just last week. But really – have you started your marketing plan for the Fall? I have already had conversations with clients and my team at Dufferin Media in regards to September marketing. I already know what my blog topic, press release, and social media focus is going to be for September, and I am encouraging clients to think about this too.
July is already done in the marketing world. Posts are created and scheduled, and let’s be honest, summer slows down for most of us as people go away on vacation. On Tuesday we will be sending out intake forms for August, and then we will be right into the fall. So my question is how far ahead do you plan your marketing efforts? I can tell you from experience that having a marketing plan in advance will not only save you time and energy because you have planned ahead, but will also make your efforts more effective.
Planning your marketing in advance has the following benefits:
- Saves you time trying to come up with last minute ideas
- Gives you time to come up with a better thought out strategy
- Is more effective and helps you be more competitive
- Gives you time to come up with amazing content
Recently I was watching a video where the speaker was suggesting that half of your digital marketing time, efforts, budget and energy be spent on STRATEGY and the other half allocated to content & execution. I really appreciated this concept as I’ve seen time and time again, the better the strategy, the easier the implementation. How much time do you spend on Strategy Planning?
