Giving Tuesday Business Feature: Deja Vu Diner Orangeville

When Jennifer contacted me interested in a business feature, I was thrilled.  And could not think of a better time to honour Jenn and her amazing community efforts than by featuring her on Giving Tuesday.  I've known Jenn since high school, and through the years we kept in touch when she was a server at Montana's.  Since she purchased Deja Vu Diner now we run into each other often in connection to the Orangeville Food Bank.  The Food Bank is just one of many community causes that she supports through her business.

Deja Vu Diner offers a "Pay it forward" meal program where customers can purchase a meal for someone in need.  Jennifer graciously distributes these meal coupons in various ways including giving the Food Bank coupons to give to clients.  As a Food Bank intake volunteer, it is a pleasure to see the joy on client's faces when I can offer them a delicious hot meal at Deja Vu Diner.

I can not think of anyone locally that does more for the residents of Orangeville.  It is an honour to feature her and her business here today.

She is truly an entrepreneur that leads with her heart.

What does your business do?

We are a local breakfast and lunch Diner.  I bought the diner 5 years ago when I felt like my current job did not allow me to help the public enough and I felt like my creativity was stifled.

We use our diner to help raise money for schools, clubs, charities, individuals, etc.  We also have a program at our diner which allows us to provide meals for the homeless.

Current goals of your business Our current goals would be to continue to be able to support our community while being able to run the diner efficiently.  We have started making homemade delicious soups which we hope to share with the community as a source of nutritious affordable meals, especially seniors who often do not get a homemade mea.
Current challenges of your business Current challenges of our business include Covid protocols which everyone doesn’t agree with.  The ever increasing cost of goods and shortages are also a challenge right now.

I encourage you to visit Deja Vu Diner (my favourite is the Eggs Benedict!) for a meal, or for some take home fresh soup or meat.  Support local, and support a business that gives back.  Thank you for all you do Jenn, and may you inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
