Mother’s
On Mother’s Day the first person I obviously think of is my own mother – Brenda Clarke. Today would have been her birthday. Her birthday often fell on Mother’s Day and I remember bringing her daisies. My mother passed away in December 2003 from complications from alcoholism. I loved my mother very much, despite her illness. She was always sweet and caring and kind. Grief is a strange thing, it gets duller over time, and then sharp moments of pain will erupt over something unexpected. For the most part today I remember my mother in love, and a dull sadness that she is no longer here.
Second I honour my mother in law – Karen Hurson (ex mother in law) but semantics really don’t matter. Karen was a mother figure to me from the time I was 15 years old, and our relationship is very dear to me. She is the granny to my kids – and always there for us no matter what. She is a strong healthy woman both mentally, spiritually and physically and I am grateful for her every single day.
Thirdly, I am a mother! The three beautiful souls that I have been blessed with as my children are the greatest gifts in my life. Each different in their own right, I love my children more than anything. I carry such love and pride for each of them. Being a mother is probably the hardest job I’ve ever had, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Happy Mother’s Day to all. Love.
