Non Profit Feature Hats On Dufferin

Recently while volunteering at the Orangeville Food Bank on a Tuesday morning, one of the clients came to me and advised quietly “Excuse me but you are all out of hats in that basket out there”.  So I went and asked around – how do we go about getting more of those lovely hand made hats, mitts, and scarves that always appear as if by magic in that little basket. I was informed that the hats are always delivered by “Hats on Dufferin”.  So I reached out to them via their Facebook Page and was told more hats would arrive asap….and they did.

Here is some information about the initiative courtesy of Headwaters.ca

HatsOnDufferin is a non-profit organization whose goal is to ensure that every child, person, and family within our community has a hat to keep warm this winter. It is our hope that this initiative will raise awareness to otherwise unknown and unchecked poverty issues that exist within Dufferin County. What began as a social gathering of individuals with a passion for the craft of crocheting, quickly evolved into a socially responsible community minded initiative. It is our belief that an increased awareness of poverty issues will help spur and support other community minded poverty reduction initiatives. The winters in Dufferin may be cold but the hearts, hands, and generosity of our residents will always be warmer.
