Non Profit Feature: Orangeville Army Cadets - 1849 Lorne Scots
When Lisa Post, a parent support committee member and local representative for the Orangeville Army Cadets, asked if I would be interested in supporting their upcoming fundraiser I was eager to help. Growing up in Orangeville the Cadets was one of the few available and affordable opportunities for my family to participate in a child activity. My brother was part of the Cadets for many years and through that had many opportunities to travel, learn and grow which he otherwise would not have had due to financial restrictions.
I feel like the community of Orangeville really benefits from programs like the Cadets giving our youth opportunities to be part of something that teaches them confidence, discipline, and respect. More importantly it is completely accessible to anyone who wants to join without financial limitations.
Please help me in supporting our cadets!
ABOUT THE ORANGEVILLE ARMY CADETS
This Army Cadet Corps operates in Orangeville and is a non-profit youth organization dedicated to those between the ages of 12-19. The Cadet program is unique in that it teaches not only basic survival skills such as map & compass training, first aid, orienteering, etc. - it also teaches invaluable life skills. Cadets are taught about Canadian Heritage and they are taught pride, discipline, respect for self and respect for the community. They are taught to be strong leaders by learning the importance of integrity and collaboration; the importance of communication and how to motivate and inspire others. It is important for all youth to have equal access to this incredible program which is why it is completely FREE for families. Cadets are supplied with their uniform and all opportunities at no charge. As such, we are required to fundraise and encourage sponsorships to assist in funding our programs.
