Social Media Content Inspiration for September

Social Media Content Inspiration for September
Welcome September! Cooler and fresher air, changing colours, back to school, sweaters, and pumpkin spice! If you are looking for inspiration on social media content look no further. I have compiled a list of September National Days and September Hashtags to help you create engaging social media content for this month. Fall is my favourite month and I just love that September is here.
September is the ninth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars, the third of four months to have a length of 30 days, and the fourth of five months to have a length of fewer than 31 days. September in the Northern Hemisphere and March in the Southern Hemisphere are seasonal equivalent. Wikipedia

September National Days
Using National Days in your social media content plan is an easy way to tap into topics that will be trending on the day of the post. You can use national days to have fun, or the opposite to tap into serious issues and show your support for various causes and issues.
I often refer to the website NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR
To research what national days might suit my audience.
Remember to use the corresponding hashtags as they are often trending on Instagram and Twitter. i.e. #NationalPirateDay and #TalkLikeAPirate will certainly be trending on September 19th.
National Day posts tend to get more reach and engagement and are a great "social" style of post where you are authentically trying to connect with your audience.
SEPTEMBER NATIONAL DAYS you might be interested in posting about include (but are not limited to)
- Sep.6 National Read a Book Day
- Sep.7 National Beer Lover's Day
- Sep.9 National Teddy Bear Day
- Sep.12 National Hug Day
- Sep.18 National Cheeseburger Day
- Sep.19 National Talk Like a Pirate Day
- Sep.22 National Ice Cream Day
- Sep.25 National Daughters Day
- Sep.27 National Chocolate Milk Day
- Sep.29 National Coffee Day
- Sep.30 National Love People Day

September Hashtags
Doing your research on what hashtags to use can be a valuable strategy to increase your reach and engagement across all social media platforms.
Certain hashtags may be trending for a day, or might just be more popular overall. Historically the most popular Hashtags on Instagram are:
- #Love
- #Fashion
- #PhotoOfTheDay
- #Beautiful
- #Photography
- #PicOfTheDay
- #Happy
- #Follow
If you are interested in what is trending on Twitter, which I check daily you can visit
https://twitter.com/explore/tabs/trending
Or another tool I love is Tweeplers
The benefit of using popular hashtags in your social media posts is that people often search for or click on those hashtags MORE than other hashtags, resulting in more reach and engagement for your social media posts.

This is helpful and packed full of information I will use in future.
I’d heard of a few days on the list, but this is a great resource.
Thank you x
Coffee Day sounds like a celebration I would enjoy, haha! Thanks for laying out some of September’s possibilities for inspiring what we share/create/write about on social media. I sometimes find that motivation disappears when I don’t have any ideas so this was really useful.
Thank you Molly I’m glad this helped you, I too sometimes struggle for inspiration for ideas and need these types of lists for myself!
These are amanzing! I really love to research holidays and events to add to our Instagram, so these will come in very handy as well as the hashtags!
